U.S.A. BUSINESS
CONDITIONS VERY UNSETTLED RS33EVELT LIKELY TO HAVE FURTHER TERM [Per United Press Association.} AUCKLAND, September 18. , “ Business conditions in the United States are very unsettled,” said Mr J. R. M'Kenzia on his return to New Zealand from an American visit, “ Thera is great uncertainty regarding tha future, and people appear unwilling to invest in new enterprises.” The cause of the_ setback was the tvpending Presidential Election, and th# international situation. He thought tha outbreak of war would mean that Mr Roosevelt would continue for a further term. He was still popular with a large section of the community, but no* with the business community.
It was thought he would do all possible to keep the United States out of the war, while keeping a close watch on the safety of the Pacific.
