TRANSPORT BILL
BICYCLE REGISTRATION DROPPED PRESENT LICENSE ISSUE SYSTEM TO STAND [From Our Paruamentarv Reporter.] WELLINGTON, September 13. As a result of consultations with representatives of the National Party, the Transport Law Amendment Bill is to be substantially modified when it comes before the House to-day for the second reading. Although the clauses relating to road safety are retained, the Minister of Transport (the Hon. R. Semple) has agreed to eliminate points of contention. Therefore the proposal for the registration of bicycles will be deleted, and it is not intended to go on with the change in the method of issuing drivers 1 licenses. The present system under which local authorities issue these licenses and retain the fees will be continued.
