Appreciation of the generous and loyai offers made by road transport operators throughout New Zealand since the declaration of war was expressed on behalf of the Government by the Minister of Transport, the Hon. This was being brought up to its highest point of efficiency to enable the productive capacity of the country to .be maintained. “ I have been in consultation with the leaders of the various branches of the road transport industry,” said Mr Semple, “ and a comprehensive plan covering all forms of public motor transport has been worked out. Full details will be announced shortly. I realise that many road operators are anxious to improve the general efficiency of their industry, but I would ask them to refrain from taking any action until an announcement of the Government’s plans has been made.”
