THE SESSION
FINANCING THE WAR LEGISLATION TO MEET SITUATION [From Our Parliamentary Reporter.] WELLINGTON, September 12. Consideration of the programme of legislation occupied the attention of a caucus of Government members this morning. It was decided that this afternoon’s sitting would be devoted to the two local Bills which remain on the Order Paper, and that the Public Works Estimates will be discussed this evening. A statement regarding the remainder of the sessional programme is expected to be made by the acting Prime Minister during the day. It is gathered that a number of minor Bills will be dealt with. In addition to these, financial provision will be made to deal with a situation which was not contemplated when the Budget was presented and the annual rates of taxation fixed. In view of the fact that the subject of finance is likely to provoke some controversy, it is not anticipated that the session will end this week, as was at first expected.
