RAYNER KNOCKS OUT SUMMERS [Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, September 11. Two professional contests were featured on the Auckland Boxing Association’s programme to-night. The main attraction was a light-weight boilt between Clarrie Rayner, of Blenheim, 9st 91b, and Harry Summers, of Australia, 9st 61b. The match'ended early in the second round, resulting in a win for Rayner on a knock-out. Rayner, the light-weight champion of New Zealand, had his opponent in difficulty with a powerful left hook to the jaw, which he followed up with a right uppercut to the solar plexus. The gong saved Summers from being counted out, and he was still receiving attention from his seconds when the gong sounded for the opening of the third round. Summers wiia very distressed, and it was some minutes before he was able to leave the ring, the referee in the meantime having declared Rayner the winner. WIN FOR BRIAN M‘KAY. A preliminary professional match between Brian M'Kay, of Auckland, 9st 9Jib, and Joe Collins, of Palmerston Notth, 9st 121 b, ended in the Aucklander’s favour. At the conclusion of the seventh round Collins went td his corner holding his right hand and apparently distressed. The association’s medical officer was called and Collins’s right glove was removed, after which he was pronounced unfit to continue the contest.
