TRAMPING ACCIDENT
BROTHER AND SISTER FALL OVER CLIFF
MIRACULOUS ESCAPE FROM SERIOUS INJURY

HASTINGS, September 10. A miraculous escape from death was experienced by a brother and sister when they fell down an 80-foot clifi near Hastings this afternoon. Neither suffered serious injury. The victims were:—
Miss Margaret Tacon, aged 20; back injuries, abrasions, and shock. Richard Tacon, aged 22; abrasions and shock.
With other members of a tramping party the Tacons were walking near a precipice top when Miss Tacon slipped. Her brother made a desperate effort to save her, grasping an arm. but was pulled over the edge. Both fell down almost a sheer drop to the stony ground below. The girl was carried out on an improvised stretcher, and both were subsequently taken to the Memorial Hospital at Hastings.
