PETROL PROFITEERS
UNLICENSED PERSONS WITH STOCKS SUPPLIES OFFERED AT 3/[Pek United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, September 10. The relaxation of the petrol regulations affecting private cars will serve to check profiteering by unlicensed persons who had accumulated stocks. There has been a fair amount of exploitation of the position, and petrol has been sold at high prices. In one instance on Saturday motorists were stopped on the Manukau road by a man who offered supplies at 3s a gallon. Since it has been emphasised that persons holding stocks of petrol possibly make themselves liable under the Dangerous Explosives Act,' large quantities of spirit accumulated by private individuals have been returned to oil companies.
