DISTRICT OFFICERS’ REPORT The report of the district officers stated, inter alia, that since the last report the Past Grands’ Lodges of the district have been meeting regularly, when various matters of interest to the Order were freely discussed. These lodges still fill a useful place, and have been of considerable service, not, only in assisting the delivery of past officers and purple degrees, but also as a means of instruction to minor officers of the various lodges. It is pleasing to note that the Loyal Oamaru and Milton P.G. Lodges are filling a long-felt want in conducting the installations of officers and delivering minor degrees. Several visits have been made to outlying lodges in this capacity, and were greatlv appreciated. Members of the Otago P.G. Lodge travelled to Milton recently, and had the pleasure of installing the officers of that lodge. The thanks of the members are due to those brethren who delivered interesting lectures during the meetings. During the period under review the various official visits have been successful, both from the point of view of the large attendances and the enthusiasm displayed. It is pleasing to note the attendance of good quotas from the Loyal Mosgiel and Prince of Wales Lodges under this heading. A tribute must be paid to those lodges which organise visits to our country lodges. The Loyal Caversham Lodge conducted a very successful visit to the Band of Friendship Lodge at Kakanui on July 11, when a full bus load made the trip. Opportunity was taken to install the officers at Kakanui, the meeting being one of the largest gatherings of Oddfellows held in the local hall. On August 1 some 23 brethren of Loyal Palmerston Lodge visited the Caversham Lodge, where a pleasant social evening was spent. Loyal Oamaru Lodge was visited on August 22, when the Loyal Oamaru and Star of the North Lodges combined to welcome and entertain the visitors. The Loyal Dunedin Lodge received a visit from the Middlemarcli brethren on August 29, the function taking the form of a social and dance. Mention must also be made of the visit to Loyal Palmerston on the occasion of the opening of the new hall. In addition to many visitors from Dunedin, two bus loads of members came from Oamaru, representatives from
