UNDERTAKERS CONFER
SUNDAY FUNERALS UNNECESSARY [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, September 25. Funeral directors from the Wellington, Taranaki, and Hawke’s Bay provinces decided at a conference to form a Funeral Directors’ Association, which will bo incorporated, the objective being to improve the conditions under which the work is performed, to elevate and bring a higher state of perfection to the profession, and to draw up rules and regulations. Chief among the problems discussed were Sunday funerals, tho shortening of excessively long hours of employment, and the elimination of unethical and undesirable advertising. It was felt that tho introduction of tho 40-
hour week placed a very heavy load on the shoulders of the principals, and it was decided that Sunday funerals could easily be dispensed with. Provision, however, could bo made for infectious cases where the public health or religious belief made such a funeral necessary.
