OLD ACT STILL IN FORCE
THE TRANSPORT LICENSING LAW [Per United Press Association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, September 25. “ It is apparent, in this district particularly, that some lorry operators have the idea that in the transition stages neither the old Act nor the old regulations arc in force,” stated Mr P, Skoglund, at a sitting of the No. 2 Transport Licensing Authority in New Plymouth to-day. “ I want to clear the minds of all operators with respect to this misconception of the law, for it still does govern transport. If there are any operators continuing without licenses, then the inspectors and enforcement officers have the right to prevent them and to prosecute. “ I have been told that there are several running about who say there is no necessity to get a license yet, for they can run without one,” said Mr Skoglund. “If these operators are doing so they are evading the law and are liable to prosecution.”
