BOXING
TWO PROFESSIONAL BOUTS [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, September 21. - Two professional bouts were staged by the Auckland Boxing Association to-night. The principal contest was a catch weight of 10 three-minute rounds, in which Archie Hughes (Auckland!, 9st 61b, defeated A 1 Stock (Hastings), lOst, on points after a good exhibition. Hughes was substituted for Neville Mudgeway (Waihi), who was unable to take the ring on account of illness. The second contest was a light-heavy-weight bout between “Marine'’ Ryan (H.M.S. Dunedin), list 121 b, and Frank Prendergast (Invercargill), 12sb 41b. Ryan won on points after a fairly fast but rather ragged exhibition.
