BATTLE PRACTICE

— CRUISERS IN HAURAKI GULF [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, September 27. Successful battle practice by the two cruisers of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy, the Dunedin and the Diomede, was carried out to-day in Hauraki Gulf. Several army and air force men were among the guests on the warships for the occasion. It was one of the few occasions on which the warships on their return to port berthed at Devonport by night, and the spectators were impressed by the case with which it was accomplished. The Dunedin and the Diomede are to make cruises of New Zealand ports. The Diomede will leave next Wednesday and the Dunedin on October 9. Both warships will return to Auckland on November 30.
