MR STALLWORTHY'S POSITION

[From Odr Parliamentary Reporter.]

WELLINGTON, September 26. Mr Stallworthy, the member for Eden, whose political attitude has been a cause of interest recently, has definitely disclosed his intention to stand nest election as a Democrat. He attended the party conference in Wellington as an observer ? and has not this session expressed himself on party allegiance. However, in an interview to-day, he states that he is not in agreement with the attitude of the Hon. Downie Sewart, who considers that a number of Independents and Moderates returned to the House next election would fortify and, recreate the National Ministry. ■ “The political temper of New Zealand,” declared Mr Stallworthy, will not stand for that temporising attitude.”-
