GIRL TENNIS PRODIGY
DISCOVERY IN SYDNEY i A girl tennis prodigy who played with considerable success in the 111awarra Suburbs Lawn Tennis Association’s championships at Sydney recently is Joyce Fitch, who, although 6nly 10 years of age, won the championship for girls under 13 and was runner-up in the championship, for girls under 15. She also won the doubles championships for girls under 13 and under 15. Her only previous experience of match play was in the Illawarra tournament last year. Joyce has a perfect swing, her forehand is well produced, and her footwork for this snot is splendid. _ She has good command over the strike, rnd places her shots with precision. Joyce has a good idea of volleying and smashing, her one defect being in her backhand; yet the faults are. such that they can be corrected easily. •' Her father has been her coach up to the present, but-he now realises the services of a professional are essential. She should develop into a champion.
