Mr H. A. B. Brabant left by the first express this morning on transfer to Auckland.
Mr F. Bullock returned to Christchurch by the early train this morning.Air John Robertson travelled to luvecargill by this morning’s express. Colonel A. E, Loach, of Christchurch, general secretary of the Association of Kindred Clubs (New Zealand), is at present on a visit to Dunedin, and will be the guest of the Macandrew Bay Orphans’ Club to-night at its annual evening function for ladies. Mr C. H. Wing left for Invercargill yesterday afternoon. Mr J. G. Cookson, installation engineer for Amalgamated Wireless (Australasia) Ltd., arrived last night to supervise the erection of the transmitting equipment for the new 4YA. At yesterday’s meeting of the Dunedin Technical School Board the principal (Air W. G. Aldridge) reported that a number of changes would be effected during the current term in the part-time evening staff. He said than Air Al'Queen had received leave from two classes in order to proceed with research work sponsored by the New Zealand Council of Educational Research; Air N. Barclay was leaving for Auckland ; Air B. W. Charman had accepted appointment as engineer to the Timanr Harbour Board, and Air T. J. Rantin had left on account of ill-health. Alisa F. Peters had also resigned from the office staff. After having toured the Bay or Plenty electorate and having consulted the leading members in that constituency, Mr H. L. Harker, Alayor or, Wa'iroa, has definitely decided to stand at the coming election in the Democratic Party’s interest. —Wairoa Press Association. A Press Association cable _ message from Canberra states that Sir Frank Gavan Duffy lias resigned from the Chief Justiceship of the High Court of Australia. Alembers of the staffs of the South! Dunedin and suburban police stations gathered last evening to farewell Sergeant Al'Entee, who has been transferred to Raugiora. Many tributes were paid to the esteem in which Sergeant Al'Entee is held, the speakers referring to his high personal and professional qualities, and expressing keen’ regret at his impending departure.Constable Schruffer then presented him with an inscribed suitcase. Constable Al'Robie also handing Airs Al'Entee a set of glassware as a token of the regard of the suburban staffs for her. Arrivals by the Wanganella at Wellington to-day _ were Mr Bertram' Thomas, distinguished Orientalist and explorer, and Airs Thomas. They were met by Dr P. Alarshall, president at the Wellington Philosophical Society. Mr Thomas will lecture in both islands,--—Press Association. ■ .
