CAR FALLS 100 FEET, A —Driver Killed Instantly— \ Failing to negotiate a sharp bend on the road six miles from Cheviot yesterday afternoon,: a car containing two persons crashed over a bank into a gully 100 ft below. The driver, Geoffrey A. Mayhury, married, aged thirty-five, a motor agent, of Christchurch, was killed, and A. D. Cooper, a farmer, of Spots wood, suffered a fractured left leg, abrasions, and shock. _ The accident occurred on the portion of tho road which runs along the bank of the Leamington River. Mayhury was driving Cooper to his home at Spotswood, and at a sharp bend the _ car left the road, overturning several times as it hurtled to the bed of the creek far below. Both tho driver and the passenger were thrown out. FATAL HEAD INJURIES. Fatal bead injuries were received bya cyclist named James Frederick Cameron, aged fifteen, of Paumure (Auckland), when the machine he was riding was involved in a collision with a motor car in Panmure road yesterday, afternoon. The lad was proceeding from Ellerslie in the direction of Panmure, and when attempting to pass a motor van travelling in the same direct tion he came into collision with a motor car which was proceeding towards Ellerslie. The cyclist _ suffered severe head injuries, and died almost immediately. MOTOR LORRY COLLISION. When a motor lorry, which, was being driven along Ward street, skidded and collided with a telegraph post, Grace Collins, married, aged twentyfive years, and residing in Falconer street (Palmerston), was severely in. jurcd. Mrs Collins, who was a passenger on the lorry, was admitted to the hospital at noon to-day suffering from shock and a fractured right arm.
