WOMAN ARRESTED
THE BLAYNEY MURDER Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, June 18. Detectives, after an exhaustive inquiry into the affairs of John Ryan, who was murdered at Blayney, arrested Charlotte Fowler, aged 58, a married woman, on a charge of having committed the crime. She was remanded until July 10. [A previous message read as follows: —Detectives here are engaged in a difficult case, the murder of John Ryan, aged 79, a retired farmer, who was found shot at Barry, in the Blayney district. Ryan was found dead in a sitting posture in an armchair in the isolated cottage where he lived by himself on his sons’ property. The detectives ascertained that Ryan was formerly a wealthy man. Ho sold a large portion of the property to his two sons at a nominal figure, but the residue of the property disappeared by unaccountable means. This aspect is now engaging attention,_ and may provide a motive for the crime. A bullet wound in Ryan’s head was disclosed, the shot having been fired at fairly close range, possibly while he was asleep in front of the fire.]
