FLYING OVER CHURCHES
PROTEST BY CLERGYMAN LETTER TO MISS JEAN BATTER jfre#s Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, June 18. (.Received June 18, at 12.30 p.m.) The Rev. Herbert Green, of Hamilton (a suburb of Newcastle) Methodist bhurch, has sent Miss Jean Batten a letter, reading in, part as follows: — “ With all the authority and responsibility of my office I wish to protest against the public nuisance which the noise of your machine, flying low over tour • churches on Sunday last, was to those of us who desired the silence of a Sunday for communion with the ‘ Unfceen Presence ’ that you are reported ito have felt in your great overseas Bight.” It is' understood that Miss Batten bas not received the letter yet. A representative of Northern Airways [Limited stated that Mr Green had apparently written under a misapprehension. Miss Batten was in no way associated with the company,, and had nothing to do with any' flights conducted bv the company last Sunday. Mr Green told the ‘Herald’s’ Newcastle representative that he was not' making a personal attack. His feeling was that the church must not allow (ho day of rest it had won for ferkcrs to be pommcxcialised*
