LATE NEWS

COMMERCIAL GRAIN AND PRODUCE. Messrs Donald Reid and Co. Ltd. report as follows; /Wheat.. —An odd sample is still coming to hand, but local millers now, have their quota of most varieties. A little Tuscan is still required, and suitable samples of this variety can be placed at the advanced rates. Other varieties, of milling quality are being purchased on behalf of the Wheat Board. June rates are as follow Tuscan, 3s 8d; Hunters, 3s lOd; Velvet, 4s, sacks extra, free on board main ports. Fowl wheat is in plentiful supply, and value to farmers on truck, country sidings, is 3s per bushel, with a little extra for good whole quality lines. Ex store prices range from 3s 3d to 3s 6c! per bushel, sacks extra. Oats.—This market remains very’ unsatisfactory. Prices have cased until growers are feeding their stock with the grain in preference to selling to merchants. A bag of pollard, 1501 b weight, is worth about 10s, while a bag of good feed oats, weighing four bushels, can be purchased at round about 7s. Values to farmers are as follow: —A grade, Is 8d; B grade, Is sd, sacks extra, on truck country stations. ■ Chaff.—There is ample available for all inquiries. Only the best quality is meeting with inquiry, and this is worth up to £3 15s, sacks extra, ex truck, Dunedin. The equivalent price ex store is £4 ss, sacks extra. Medium and inferior are selling at prices ranging from £3 to £3 10s, ex store, sacks extra. There is very little demand for this class of chaff. . . Potatoes. —Consignments of potatoes are arriving freely, and digging has not yet been completed. In some instances, where the potatoes Ixavq been dug vyet, frost has taken ■ toll, and these lines will have to be repicked before sales can bo made. Best table whites have been sold at £4 per ton, ex truck, Dunedin. A little extra can be obtained for choice lines, especially King Edwards. This particular. potato is a favourite in Dunedin, and consignments of good quality are readily disposed of. . '’.FOREIGN,. EXCHANGES. (British Official Wireless.)
