FORFAR STREET.
TO TUB EDITOR, Sir,—l am given to understand that Clydehill’s notorious footpath, Forfar street, has been on the estimates for two or three years past, but each year, has been rejected on the excuse of lack of sufficient capital. of Clydehill are more than incensed with being continually side-stepped over their repeated endeavours to have this path attended to. On a wet day one has to resort to a balancing trick down the edge of the channelling,; as the few screenings on its surface might as well hot be there for all * the use they are. To asphalt tho path up to the last house in Forfar street would not cause the council any financial embarrassment but would certainly cause Clydehill residents a little less pain when their , rates are duo to be paid. Screenings could then be used from the last house to the Maryhill car terminus, as Forfar street is without doubt becoming one of the necessary suburban roads as a means of access for tho residents of Mornington to reach Caversham and South Dunedin. A good path would certainly repay the council in rates its initial expense, as prospective buyers of the numerous sections for sale on Clydehill must look askance at the footpath which they would have to traverse before gaining access to their holding. It is a pity that one of the city fathers had not the pleasure of being asked to push a pram over the path.—l am; etc., Do Unto Others. June 16.
