MILK PRICES.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I have noticed several letters on this subject since my original one some time ago, but I have not seen one from the milk retailers justifying the increase. I also hoped that the New Zealand Welfare .League would have added its views on the subject, but it is evidently too busy minding Russia’s business. When the price of milk was raised to 5d 1 gave it as my opinion that the whole business was fostered by the Forbes-Coates Government, and I now observe that the Government medical inspectors have persuaded the Anderson’s Bay School Committee to assist the already over-as-sisted farmers to dispose of their unsaleable produce. Mr G. B. Shaw when in New Zealand stated that Britain would not allow the New Zealand farmers to ram our butter down her throat. Baulked in this direction, the Forbes Government is trying to bolster up the farmer by assisting him to charge the worker an artificial price, and has gained the assistance of the Anderson’s Bay- School Committee to help also. Trusting that the milk producers will reply showing how the price of sdi is arrived at, as they always claim that the local price of butter, cheese, and milk is governed by the law of supply and demand. —I am, etc., \ Tack. June 14. n
