TARANAKI BEATS WAIKATO
Taranaki defeated Waikato at New Plymouth by eight wickets. In the first innings Waikato made 130 and Taranaki at the drawing of stumps yesterday had made 143 for four wickets. The remaining Taranaki wickets fell cheaply to-day, the side being out for 179. Johnston took four wickets with four successive balls. Waikato in the second innings were dismisssed for 54 runs, and Taranaki needed six runs to win. These they obtained for the loss of two wickets.
