Vallar was clone with below the distance, where Kingheld, Bright Glow, and Reremoana were the leaders. Bright Glow forged ahead to win by half a length, with a neck between second and third. Polyxena. and Eaglet made a bid at the distance, and went out wide, leaving Gay Ballerina to go through on the inside to win strongly by two lengths, with a neck between second and third. • Supremacy was fourth. There was little between the horses until going over the lull for the second time. Then Star of the East went out to win easily by fifteen lengths, with half a length between second and third.
