Tlie famous mosque of St. Sophia, in Constantinople, is ahvhys fragrant .with the odour of musk. It lias been so since it was built in tbe ninth century. Nothing is done to keep it perfumed. The solution of the seeming mystery lies in the fact that when it was built the stones and bricks were fixed by mortar mixed with musk. Angry Cook: “ But you’re the same man I gave a piece of apple fiie to yesterday.” The Wayfarer: “Yes; but I hardly expected to find you here again to-day.”
