LODGE M.U.1.0.0.F.
STAGS DISTRICT MEETING The annual meeting of the Otago District, M.U.1.0.0.F., was concluded in tho Oddfellows’ Hall, Stuart street, on Saturday afternoon, the Pro G.M. (Bro. W. J. Johnston) presiding. Tho Grand Master presented the report of the Committee of Permanent Secretaries, which contained the following motion That this meeting is in favour of the alteration of the dates of making tho returns to the district from Juno 30 and December 31 in each year to May 31 anti November 30, and suggests that the alteration come into force as from Slay 31, 1930.”—After a lengthy discussion tho motion was carried.
The following remit from the districtofficers was carried That an application bo made to the registrar of the Friendly. Societies’ Department to permit us to use a further sum of £2OO out of our unappropriated surplus for the purpose of adding to the amount of £IO,OOO, which allows us to pay 3s a week bonus to male members on the continuous sickness rate. The amount to be so appropriated then to pay Is 6d per week to female members on the continuous sickness rate.” Several tributes were paid to the work of tho Grand Master, and the following motion from the Prince of Wales Lodge was earned:—“ That the name of P.P.G.M. W. J. Johnston he placed on tho merit board; that he receive a certificate to enable him to take the degree of P.P.G.M.; and that he receive a P.P.G.M.’s jewel,”—The jewel was presented at ilie conclusion of the meeting. It was decided by 42 votes to 40 to hold the next district meeting in tho lodge room of the Loyal Upper Clutha Lodge, Pembroke. It was decided that the rate of levies for the half-year be 2s 6d. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers resulted as follows—Prov. G.M., Prov. D.G.M, Bro. P. H. Young; Prov. D.G.M.. P.G. Bro. T. P. Michelle; Prov. C.S., Bro. J. A. Hopcraft; Prov. Treasurer, P.P.G.M. Bro. A. Sligo; auditor, Bro. C. Grater; lodge book examiners—Bros. W. E. C. Reid, C. Grater, and J. W. Smeatou; Arbitration Committee—P.P.G.M. R. S. Black, P.G.’s A. J. Smith, E. Longworth, C. L. Calvert (Albion), E. J. W. Hay (Caversham), G. Crosbie. C. B. Barrowclough (Dunedin), P.P.G.M.’a B. H. Roscvear, J. H. G. Clarke (Hand and Heart), P.G. A. W. Halton (Milton), W. D. Campbell (Prince of Wales), P.P.G.M. J. A, Robson (Valley) ; Competitions Committee—P.P.G.M.’s A. 11. Lawry, O. H. Russell, J. H. G. Clarke; delegates to Friendly Societies’ Council — P.P.G.M.’s j. H. G. Clarke, J. A. Robson. J. Wilson, P.G.’s J. Knox, E. J. W. Hey, and E. Longworth. FLOOD RELIEF A motion was carried expressing sympathy with residents who had suffered in the recent flood, and a recommendation was made to the District Committee that a sum of £25 be voted to the relief fund.
