Some confusion appears to exist concerning the date of the fight between Delaney and Tom Keeney in the world’s championship preliminary, the date for which was originally set down as March 1, In response to several inquiries Mr Ivan O’Meara, a well-known wireless amateur, got into touch with American stations to-night, and ascertained that the fight was set down for 9 p.m. on Friday (New York time). Allowing that the fight goes the fifteen rounds, the result should be received in New Zealand about 3.30 p.m. on Saturday.

NAPIER, February 29. Artie Hay (Hastings) 10.5 to-night beat F, Smitheram (Dunedin) 10.2 in a ten-round bout which went the full distance. Smitheram, though beaten all the way. put up a wonderfully game fight. In a second bent Dave Palmer (Australia) 10.3 knocked out Hughes (Dunedin) 10.2 in the sixth round of a very tamo fight. Excellent form .was shown in three amateur bouts, the best of the evening being a willing fight between. Hutchinson (Hastings) 8.4 and Boderique (Gisborne) 9.0, the former taking a wellmerited decision. The programme was under the auspices of the Napier Boxing Association.
