The conference of Thames Authorities and Government officials, which Mr Baldwin convened following the London floods, recommended an expert investigation whether there is a reasonable probability of a recurrence of a higher or an equal tide. The County Council will take over the supervision and inspection of the flood defence works, also public warnings if the water reaches a danger level, and the prohibition of uew buildings and reconstruction of present ones in cases in which floors are below the specified level.—A. and N.Z. and ‘ Sun ’ Cable.
