(Received March 1, at 12.10 p.m.) The man murdered at Melun has been identified as a young traveller named Gaston who had been missing for two days. He was in possession of jewels and precious stones worth £5,000. His head was horribly battered, presumably by motor bandits, Who tied the body up in a petrol-soaked sack, to which they set fire. , The clue was supplied by a butcher boy who saw a motor car discarding blood-stained tins.
