LADIES' ATHLETICS

FORTHCOMING SPORTS MEETING CLUB COMMITTEE MEET. At u committee meeting of the Ladies’ Amateur Athletic Club, held on Tuesday evening, under the chairmanship of the presklent, Miss F. J. Ross, details of the sports meeting to be held at the Caledonian Grounds on Saturday afternoon, March 24, were discussed. The programme will include both team and individual events, most of which are open races. It is anticipated that teams of eight girls will be entered from Bible classes, Girl Guides, factories ami shops, secondary and technical schools, and hockey and basket ball teams for the five team events—flag relay, Scotch ball, kangaroo hop, wand relay, and hoop relay. The individual events will include 220, 400, and 73yds flat, high jump, three-legged, sack, obstacle, and Girl Guide and second school races. It was reported by Mr Macassey that the Otago Centre would insert meu’s events —namely, 100yds handicap, I,oooyds handicap, a relay, and a two-mile bicycle race.

The rules governing the event were discussed, and information regarding them may be obtained from any member of the committee or from the honorary secretary. It was reported by Mr Macassey that the constitution of the club had been forwarded by the Otago Centre to tho New Zealand Council at Wellington for its approval, and, if accepted, the club would be formally affiliated to the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association. Appreciation of the help given to the club by tho centre was expressed. Mr Macassey was appointed referee, and it was hoped that tho following members of the centre would act as officials on the course at the sports meeting on March 24:—Meacrs P. VV. Breen, J. Beatson, H. T. JSmmcrson, 11. Swinney, Arthur Burt, C. Heaton, J. P,, Williamson. Hobbs, and Hogg.
