In the singles Borotra (France) defeated Patterson, 6-2, 9-7. Borotra’s agility counter-balanced Patterson’s position play. He returned Patterson’s service with case, and at the net Borotra was unbeatable. In the mixed doubles Hawke and Aliss Boyd beat Brugnon (France) and Aliss Harper, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, Hawkes played splendidly, and was deadly at net position play. Fie and Aliss Boyd made a strong pair. In the .doubles Patterson and Al‘lnnes (Victoria) beat Borotra and Boussus (Franco), 8-6, 8-0, 6-4. It was a magnificent game, and Patterson was at the top of his form. A'ictoria won the test against France by one game. This was the Frenchmen’s first defeat in Australia in a test match.
