i Mr 0. Stanley Smith returned from ■ Wellington last evening. Mr L. A. North left by the 11.31 train to-day for Auckland to take the ; half-yearly winter course of study at tho Baptist Theological College. Mr A. A. Campbell and Mr J. Abbott, Dunedin delegates to tbe Master Painters’ Conference at Wanganui, went by the through express to-day. Mr W. Anderson, of the Christchurch Stock Exchange, returned to that city to-day after a visit to Dunedin. Mr G. Lament Gurr, now of Auckland, has been revisiting Dunedin, and left for his home to-day. The Rev. Eric Evans, president of the New Zealand Baptist Union, will leave by the second express on Monday to take part in tho opening of the now Baptist College in Auckland. Mr F. S. Dvson, the new Public Works District Engineer for Otago, has arrived to take up bis duties. PERS. Sir William Sim will leave lor Invercargill on Monday morning to conduct the quarterly sittings of the Supremo Court. Ft is anticipated that tbo business will engage His Honor’s attention for about a, week._ A sitting of tbo Supreme Court is fixed tor Dunedin on March 5, after which Hifi Honor will proceed to Oamaru, where a list ol important cases is awaiting his attention. Subsequent to the Camaru sitting, His Honor will proceed to the Court of Appeal in Wellington, and it is not likely that lie will return to Dunedin till close on Easter. A Sydney cablegram states that Brigadier-general Batenin n-Champa in, Secretary-general of tho British Red Cross Society, is a passenger by the Maunganui for Wellington. Mr Charles Grigor Wilson was yesterday admitted as a .solicitor of tbo Sunreme Court by His Honor Mr Justice Sim. New visitors to the Grand Hotel include Mr W. H. Saunders (Liverpool, England), Messrs Joan Schmidt and P. Hunt (London), Mr D. Highgaie (Blairmiie, Scotland), Messrs A. Jenkins ami H. S. Holland (Sydney), and Mrs M. Brady (Wellington). Latest arrivals to tbe City Hotel include Messrs A. Wilson and F. S. Dyson (Wellington), Mr and Mrs G. Blizzard (Picton), Mr J. Faulks (Pembroke), Mr V. Collins (Timaru), Messrs J. Fogarty and W. Stone (Invercargill), and Mr T. Mitchell (Ranfurly). Among the new guests to the Excelsior Hotel arc Mr H. O. Hind (Vancouver), Mr J. Alexander (Sydney), Mr and Mrs A. M. Paterson (Auckland), Air D. Marshall (Palmeifdon North), Air E. Slirimpton, Air and Airs K. H. Thonn. Alessrs C. R. Cattell. W. Brown, and G. A. Kimber (Wellington). Afrs D. Cameron, Afiss Cameron, Air R. D. Cameron (Oamaru).
