PEACE MEASURES
DISORDERLY METHODIST DEBATE (Per United Press Association.J CHRISTCHURCH, February 25. The debate at the Methodist Conference on ‘Pacifism’ became very rowdy, and there were many lively scenes, full of interruptions. One speaker said that never in his experience had he known such a disorderly scene in order to promote peace (laughter). The discussion, which did not commence until late in the evening, was introduced as a result of the presentation of the report of the Temperance and Public Morals Committee. The committee expressed appreciation ol the manifesto issued by the Churches' United Peace Committee,_ setting forth the attitude of the United Churches against war. Eventually the matter was rclerred to the quarterly meetings of congregations, and to district synods for consideration.
