FRUIT AND PRODUCE
Bray Eros., Ltd., report as follows for the week ended to-day;— Consignments of chaff are on the light side, but there is sufficient to meet the demand. Best quality is worth round about £'s per ton (sacks extra), ex truck. There is very little shipping business. The oat market is much firmer. Tor fresh lines of Cartons that have reached the market, 3s Id (sacks extra) has been paid, but there is no business from the North island at this figure. It is equivalent to 3s 9d per bushel, f.0.b., s.i. The future position of the oat market depends on the export demand, and at present there is little prospect of this. New season’s wheat is now coming on the market. The spell of lino weather has brought on the crops both in the South and m Canterbury, and they will be ready for harvesting earlier than was expected, and heavy offerings should be on the market shortly.
