H.M.S. LABURNUM IN PORT
CSWHDER AND CREW WELCOMED SHIP HERE FOR A WEEK. In continuation of her cruise round New Zealand ports H.M.S. Laburnum steamed up to Dunedin this morning, and .was berthed at the Rattray street wharf. Representing the Otago Harbor Board, Mr D. Larnach and Mr \V. J. Bardsley called on Commander F. N. Attwood on his arrival, welcoming him and his officers and men, and extending the board’s facilities to tho visitors. The mayor (Mr W. B. Taverner) and Cvs J. S.'Douglas and C. W. Hayward paid a visit to tho ship, and also welcomed the commander and his crew, and informed them of the arrangements made for their entertainment.
Commander Attwood will pay a return visit to the chairman of the. Harbor Board at 10 o’clock on Monday morning. H.M.S. Laburnum left Auckland last Saturday afternoon for Gisborne. The ship sailed from the Poverty Bay port on Wednesday, and came direct to Dunedin, where she will probably remain until Monday week. From here the Laburnum is to go up the East Coast, calling at Oamaru (possibly), Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Wanganui, Picton, Napier, thence Auckland. On the trip to Dunedin fine weather .was experienced except when crossing Cook Strait, when wind and moderate •seas were encountered. The Laburnum is due to arrive at Auckland at the end of April. ■,
