WESTFIELD WORKS DISPUTE
A SETTLEMENT POSSIBLE (SPECIAL TO THE ' StAE.’J AUCKLAND, February 16. Although no official statement has been made in connection with the Westfield dispute concerning the classification of a sheep, which resulted in the management paying off over 250 men last Monday, it is authoritatively stated that there is a possibility of a settlement being reached "to-day. A meeting of the men late this afternoon will deckle the issue, and ft may not he necessary to hold a further meeting tonight- , . It is not known what the terms of settlement are likely to be, but any decision is no doubt influenced by the company’s threat to make other arrangements to carry on the works.
