ST. CLAIR CARNIVAL
COMMENCING TO-NIGHT. To-night, to-morrow night, and on Saturday afternoon and evening Dunedin people will have an opportunity of doing something tangible for their city by attending the big carnival which is to be held at St. [■-•■'•ir under the auspices of the St. Clair Improvement Society. The recent fine weather has shown people more than ever before what a valuable asset the city possesses in the beach so close to the town, and, with the idea of increasing the attractions of the waterfront and improving. the facilities for bathing, the society has organised this carnival, which has been carefully planned and arranged so as to give pleasure to young and old. The esplanade has been closed to vehicular triffic during the course of the carnival, and elaborate decorations and illuminations have been erected. There are stalls for the sale of ioes, ioed drinks, cakes, flowers, and other articles, and an amusement park, which will bo somewhat reminiscent of the amusement park at the recent Exhibition, will provide a great attraction.
