Press Association— By Telegraph—Copyright
LONDON, February 4. It is feared that the worst has happened to Mr and Mrs Glover, who left England in 1926 for the purpose of making scientific exploration through the Central African desert. News has reached the ‘Daily Express’ in a roundabout way that an African merchant living in Manchester has received a letter from an official at Maidupari, in Northern Nigeria, stating: “ A runner has just come in with the bad news that Mr and Mrs Glover were killed in French territory.” Mr and Mrs Glover’s fnends < in London recently became most anxious because of the sudden stoppage ol regular communications. The last letter came from Faya, in French territory, West Africa, 500 miles north-eaot of hake Chad. It was written by Mrs Glover on September 28, 'and was '.ecuved by her sister at Croydon about Christmas. It stated; ‘‘We travelled over a waterless desert, and were often from nineteen to twenty hours in the saddle. I am now 700 miles further than any other white woman has ever been.”
