BUTCHERS’ PICNIC

The annual butchers’ picnic was held at Evansdale on Monday, and proved an unqualified success, over 400 attending. The officials were : —President, Mr R. Baby Show. —Girls under six months: Mrs Murphy. Boys under six months: Mrs Polkinton. Girls six and under twelve months: Mrs Larkins. Boys six and under twelve months; Mrs Constable. Waltzing Competition.—Miss Anning and Mr Mattingly, 1, Mr and Mrs Glass 2, Mrs Donald and Mr Jamieson 3. The president of the committee presented the prizes, and thanked the employers for the liberal way they had contributed to the prize fund. He was pleased to see so many employers present, and referred to the good feeling existing between employers and workers. He congratulated the committee on the splendid way it had worked. Special attention had been given to the children, and he felt sure that the,efforts of the committee were much appreciated by all present.
