N.E. HARBOR BOATING CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING There was a good attendance of member* at the fifth annual meeting ol the North-east Harbor Boating Club, which was held on Saturday night, the commodore, Mr G. Bowloy, presiding. In moving the adoption ol tne annual report and balance-sheet, the Commodore paid u tribute to those members who had worked so hard during the winter to improve the shed. Ho mentioned particularly, Messrs ». Timms. 11. Ross, and W. M'Evoy. ihe fourteen-footer Mone, which had been in the care of the club, had been handed over to another person, under orders I'rom her owner, Mr B. »• Irwin. The year had been commenced with a credit balance of £25 7s Hd, and finished with a balance ot £5 bs 8d; the cash in hand amounting to £j 6s sd. A large sum had boon expended during the year, most ol wlucii had been devoted to the shed and slip. The assets of the club had been considerably increased, the shed and fittings being valued at £()00, making the total assets £755 Os od; the liabilities amounting to £77. In seconding the motion, Mr A, M'Hutchon congratulated the commodore and the committee on the work carried out, and said that it was gratifying to sec the club m such a sound financial position. It was decided that a club captain bo included among the list ol officers, as it was deemed necessary with the increased value of the club s shed anc fittings. . , . The 'following officers were elected for the season:—Commodore Mr G. I • Bewley; vice-commodore Mr it. A. Gibson; club captain, Mr R. Rots, secretary, Mr F. Brown; treasurer, Mi W- M'Evoy; committee —Messrs R. Hellyer, W. H. Timms, inn., A. it. Heliyer C. G. Hook, jun., W. Robinson, J. Marett, J. Rattray, amd H. C. Brown; auditor, Mr J. S. ,en( ; c ! dclegato to the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Association, Messrs C. I* • Bewle\ mid E. T. Holler; trustees, Messrs Hunter Macandrew and A. M’Hutchon. Three new members were elected. Mr B. T. Holler brought up the matter of an Otago representative in this rear’s Sanders Cup trials, tie said that at present Otago did not possess one of the latest class ol boats and he thought that tho Otago lacfit and Motor Boat Association should give the clubs a lend.—The Commodore said that he did not think that a boat could be built in time lor the tiials, but Bffiwas evident that a suitable boat should be secured lor the province.—Mr M'Hutchon pointed out (bat the class was not fulfilling its purpose. . It was originally intended to encourage tho boys, but it was unu a rich man’s sport; moreover, the association had not given tho boys any encouragement. It was decided that the delegates bring the matter belore the association. A tote of thanks was - passed to Messrs W. M'Evoy, R. Ross, and W. Timms (2), for their untiring work in connection with the improvements at the club’s property.
