HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS.

[Pee United Peess Association.] WELLINGTON, July 19. Shortly after 9.30 last night a polica constable noticed two men leave the premises of F. Cooper, Ltd., seed merchants, at the corner of Willis and Mercer streets. He accosted them. One man immediately made off, but the other, named John Albert Corbett, a grocer's assistant, was detained. He stated that lie worked on the premises. An examination proved that the place had been ransacked, and Corbett was taken to the police station. To-day ho appeared before the Court, and was remanded till the 24th inst.
