LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting of the Board was held this day ; present Messrs A. C. Strode (in the chair), Bntterworth, and Clark. Mr D. Telfer applied to surrender section 3, block 4, Waikaka, and transfer deposit credited to section 5, block 6. Allowed; deposit not to be returned. Mr W. Telfer applied to purchase half of section 1, block 27, and sections 1 and 2, block 22, Clutha, to complete dram. To be sold by auction as land of special value. Mr J. M'Kellar, for settlers at Tapanui, asked the Board to appoint someone there instead of at Laurence to receive fees due on deferred payment licenses, and named Mr J. A. Mooney as a competent individual. The Board did not see its way to comply with the request. , It was decided to throw open again for application section 3, block 3, Kingston. The Municipal Council at Camara ashed the Board to recommend the Governor to dedicate, the land (temporarily reserved), namely, section 30, block 3, Awamoko, as a reserve for the construction and maintenance of works in connection with the intake of water to the town of Camara. The Board did not see its way clear to move further in the matter at present. Mr Kerin Clappy asked the board to reserve from sale sections 1 to 5 and 9 to 12, Macraes, for a public pound, and offered to lease them at Is 6d per acre. The sections had been sold &une time ago.

The Tapanui Town Clerk wrote that the purposes for which section 3, plook 2, Tapanui, is required are “as a site for a public pound, manure depdt, and ornamental gardens.” .To be reserved from sale, but no promise given that, it will be absolutely appropriated to the Tapanui Corporation. Mr J. Christie was allowed to withdraw* his application for a seven years? lease of deferred payment sections 16, block 8, and 16, block 9, Toe Toes, and to purchase them at 17s 6d instead. Mr Connell, for Messrs D. M'Kenzie and Co., applied for a license to cut timber growing on the area adjoining section 3, block 6, Glenoamaru (Gatlin’s reserve). To be applied-for in terms of the timber regulations. A license was granted under clause 161 to Mr W. J, Leggatt for land reserved for recreation purposes adjoining Moeraki township. Several matters dealing with runs were adjourned, owing to the absence of Mr D. Reid.
