THE FIRE BRIGADES’ DEMONSTRATION.
Entries for the above close to-morrow week. No replies have been received from the Hobart Town Brigades or from Geelong. A letter was received by the Secretary of the Demonstration Committee per the Albion, to-day, in which the Maiden (Victoria) Brigade, one of the competing teams at the late Geelong Demonstration, regret their inability to take part in the forthcoming demonstration, and proceed to say “Your committee is certainly to be complimented on the excellence of the programme they have issued. For varjety and liberality it is for in advance of any hitherto issued by the Victorian Fire Brigades. Probably, at some future time, they will take an example from yours. . . . Trusting that your demons cratiou will meet with the success it deserves.” The officers of the Dunedin Volunteer Fire Brigade were out at the Caledonian Grounds on Saturday to try the pressure oftne water, and found it most satisfactory.
