The representative team of East Taieri in the Ladies’ Challenge Shield competition are Lieutenant Christie, Volunteers Brown, Rankin, Smaill, and Naughtie. > COLONIAL PRIZE FIRING. The firing for choice of colonial represen - tatives was commenced by the Portobello Rangers yesterday, Lieut, Wilson, No. I Company, being in_command. The weather was very fine, but hot, with a good light wind from the left front. There are to be two competitions this year at 200, 450, 500, and 600 yards, seven shots at each, the three highest aggregate scorers to be the representatives of the Dunedin district. The prize-firing takes place at Hokitika in February next. The scoring yesterday was very good, that of Lieut. M'Cartney being especially true. The D.N.H. and Artillery (carbines) fire to-morrow at Anderson’s Bay, Major Stavely in command; and the West Taieri at their own range, Lieut. Wilson supervising. TALL SCORING. A sweepstakes match was fired at Anderson’s Bay range on Thursday afternoon between Lieut. Muir, Art, ; Lieut. Pell, JSi.D.R.; and Vol. Kohn, No. 1, when Kohn made the highest score at 200, 300, 400, and 500 yds ever made fin the Colony—viz., 99 out of a possible 112. The prize firing postponed from the Prince of Wales’s Birthday, in consequence of the Waihola Review, took place yesterday.
