To the U#itor. Sir, Your correspondent " Gamma " I seems to me to have some very peculiar ! views of Evolution, despite the expositions that have been given of the theory. He, like many others, insists on asserting that Evolution denies or excludes design, whereas, in reality, it does nothing of the kind. He says, "Are not the evidences of design the very death-blow of Darwinism ?" lam proud to reply they are not. Evolution as a method of creation is as full of design as creation by fiat. The argument of design is at least *as firmly rooted in the one as in the other. It would occupy too much of your valuable space were I to produce proofs of the continuity existing between the argument of design ;.nd theory of the descent, therefore I will content myself with recommending your correspondent to read a valuable book on the subject namely, " Darwinism and Design," by G. St! Clair. Your correspondent is evidently a believer in direct and verbal inspiration judging from the last sentence in his letter' Well, if he is, it would be an endless task for anyone to try and convince him that Evolution is true. But I will tell "Gamma" that we have it 011 the authority of Joseph us that wrote some things allegorically. I am, &c,
