Drunkenness. - Chas. Robertson Twig and James Russell were each fined ss, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment; William Pollock was discharged. Stealing a Watch.—James Oliver White, a man of color, was charged by John Mlntosh with stealing, on November 21, a silver watch, a gold Albert chain, and two gold pendants, of the value of Lls, his goods.—lnspector Mallard : Detective Bain apprehended prisoner this morning,, just before coming into Court, and we are not prepared to go on with the case at present. I should like to have a remand till Friday, and if your Worships wish will put the evidence I am prepared with before the Court.—The accused was remanded accordingly.

A Disorderly Character.—Anne Harper was charged with being drunk in Machin's right-of-way yesterday (Sergeant Barry), and with using profane language in Leith street on the 15th (Sergt. Anderson). —As the prisoner was well known to the Bench she received the full benefit of the Act, three months' imprisonment. A Temperance Candidate.—Mary Jane G-ibbs, charged with drunkenness, admitted the offence.—lnspector Mallard stated that although the prisoner's name had appeared repeatedly on the charge-sheet, she had been a Good Templar for eight months, and had behaved herself most creditably. A few days since her husband died, and she had broken out again. He would ask their Worships to discharge the prisoner if she promised to again identify herself with the Temperance cause.—As Mary gave the necessary assurance the Bench eomplied with the Inspector's request. SOucrriNG, Prostitution.—Mary Thomson, charged with this offence in Priixces street last night, was sent to gaol for three months.
