WASTE LAND BOARD.

Tho following business was transacted at the Board's meeting to-day, which was attended by Messrs Strode (in the chair), Butterworth, Reid, Bastings, and Clark : Mr John Gill requested the Board to allow him valuation to the extent of L4O for house and other improvements in section 37 and 38, block 3, Hyde township, when they are offered at auction. Referred to District Land Officer to make valuations for improvements for Board's approval. Mr ThoS. Lewis applied for a three years' lease of section 36, block 8, Akatore.— Declined.

The District Engineer reported with reference to A. Pirie's application to occupy section 210, block 4, Papakaio, for quarrying purposes.—Declined.

The application of Francis Nichet to purchase at LI per acre section 63, block 18, Tuapeka East, was refused; and those of George Ludeman and W. H. Miller, to purchase under deferred payments sections 13, 14, and 73, block 4, Shotover, and section 48, block 4, Table HilL were : granted. The Secretary to the Education Board requested that the north-western ten or twenty acres of section 27, block 2, Glenkenich, be granted ftr a school site, with the road line to connect it with block 3.—Adjourned.

The Hon. Mr M'Lean transmitted an application by Messrs Connell and Moodie, on behalf of Thos. Redpath, to be allowed to exchange his agricultural for deferred pay; ment lease of section 96, block 5, Waitahuna East, with a recommendation that the application be refused until applicant complied with the terms of the Goldfields Act.— Refused accordingly. J. T. Mackerras's application to purchase under agricultural lease section 27, block 4, Waipori, was granted. The Board resolved, "That in terms of the 47th section of the Otago Waste Lands Act, 1872, the 7th section of the Otago Waste Lands Administration Act, 1874, and the Bth and 59th sectiens of the Waste
