Welsh, Hindmorsh, M'Naughton, Smith, Jones; and fifteen in the steerage. Shag, s.s., 31 tons, Wing, from Shag Point. Taupo, s.s., 462 tons, Worsp, from Northern Ports. Passengers: Mrs Barker, Miss Beyuoh-'s, Messrs Schaefl, Jacobs, Ferg.ison, ,’aylor, Tresdall, Bnxcey, Morton, G. G. Taiaroa, Bridge, Turner, Weir, Ayson; and six la the stejrage. Mataura, ship, 853 tons, Gorn, from London. Passengers: Mrs Davidson, Messrs Arkroyd, Secretan, Lloyd, Bankin, Vaughan, and forty-one in the second class and steerage BAILED, October 3.—Taiaroa, s.s., 228 tons, Paterson, for Timaru. India, barque, 202 tons, Gregg, for Hobart Town. Wakatipn, s.s.. 1,158 tons, Cameron, for Sydney, via Northern and West Coast Ports. Passengers: • For Lyttelton—Messrs D. F. Main, Spence, Simp, son, J. E. Makeig, and twelve steerage. For Wellington—Messrs Harrison and M'Gormochie. For Hokitika—Messrs Brown, Hill, and 125 steerage. For Sydney—Mr ar.d Mrs Forester, Messrs Mendershanaen and Charles.
October 4.—Albion, b.b.. 640 tons, Clark, for Sydney, via Northern and West Coast Ports. Passengers ! For Wellington—Eev. Mr and Mrs Coffey. For Sydney—Mr A. M'Gregor, and 53 steerage for all ports.
This forenoon a abip waa signalled about ten miles to the southward of the Heads, but owing to the hazy wieather her name could not be ascertained until 1 p.m., when she proved to be the New Zealand Shipping Company’s Mataura, from Loudon. The a.B, Albion, from Melbourne via Hobart Town and the Bluff, arrived alongside the railway pier at 8.15 this morning. She left Melbourne at 11 a.m. on September 27, and arrived at Hobart Town at 7.30 a.m. on the 29th; left again same day at 6 p.m.; experienced fine clear weather with light northerly winds, and arrived at the Bluff at mid-day on the 3rd inst.; left again at 6 p.m., had light winds along the coast, and arrived as above. We thank her purser for report and exchanges.
The s.B. Taupo, with cargo and twenty passengers from the Northern ports, arrived at Port Chalmers at 7.80 this morning. She left the Manukau at 5 a.m. on the 29th September, Nelson at 7 a.m. on the Ist inst., Wellington at 8.30 p.m. on the 2nd, and Lyttelton at 2 p.m. yesterday. We thank Mr Barbour (purser) for report and exchanges.
Auckland, October 3.—Theschomer Stratbnavcr, owned at Lyttelton, woe wrecked while entering Kaipara Harbor. She capsized suddenly, drove ashore, and became a total wreck. The mate was drowned. She was insured in the New Zealand office for L7OO. 4th.—Arrived; H.M.S. Sapphir?, from Melbourne.
Wellington, October 4.— Waimea, from London, ninety-four days out, with £4l immigrants, has been signalled at the Heads.
