THE AUSTRALIAN RIFLEMEN IN AMERICA.
London, September 15. jgiThe International Rifle match took place at Creedmoor, near New York, on the 13th and 14th inat. The teams were in squads of eight, and the following were represented : America, Ireland, Scot! ami, Australia, and Canada. The ranges were at 800, 900, and 1,000 yards, with fifteen shots each range. At the conclusion of the match the scores stood thus :
America thus won by 22 points from Ireland, and 64 from Australia. The following were the individual scores of the Australians :
Another match between the same teams will take place at Washington at the end of September. The Australians have the satisfaction of passing on the score-list the world-famed team ot Scotland, a team which has won victories without number, and which on this occasion was to include, and no doubt did contain, the familiar name of Major H. Ross. At Wimbledon, it will be remembered, the Scotch team was considerably in advance of the Victorian representatives, but at Creedmoor the Australian riflemen were able to turn the tables.
