THE FIRE AT SOUTH DUNEDIN.
To the Editor.
Sib,—-You report." a four-roomed house at South Dunedin took fire at 4.45 this 5 morning, and was completely burned down." It must have been constructed of wood; and to insure a four-roomed wood house for L3OO these times, evinces a. wise and prudent forethought. It's W-example that every good citizen ought to follow, and every insurance company ought to encourage ; it is a simple act of providence that every man owes to himself and family, but in the bustle and buzz of humanrftffaira many people neglect it. I am just; now erecting in Bell "Ward two four-roomed cottages at a cost of L 252, or L 126 each. I add this merely as an invitation to insurance whips; I feel confident they will take a line of L3OO on each of these, and when taken I shall feel equally as confident if they blow the last trumpet for a fire signal in that Ward it will not disturb the repose of,—Yours, &c., Provident. Dunedin, September 22.
