HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
Wellington, September 12. At last night’s sitting. The Speaker intimated that he had received the resignation of Sir Julius Vogel, whereupon a new writ was ordered to be issued.
The Premier then moved the suspension of the Standing Orders, in order to introduce and pass through all its stages The Civil Service Act Amendment Bill. After a good deal of discussion, the motion for the suaSension of the Standing Orders was withrawn, and the second reading of the Bill made an order of the day for Tuesday. On the motion for going into Committee of Supply, Mr Murray moved that upon a change of Ministry the members of the new Cabit should go before their constituents for re-election. After a long discussion this was lost by 26 to 22, and the House went into Committee of Supply, and after passing a vote for the Customs Department progress was reported. The House adjourned at 2.15 a.m.

Wellington, September 12. Tiie Opposition adopted the “stone wall ” policy last night, and by concert left the House to prevent the majority necessary to suspend the standing orders so as to pass the “condonation” Bill. Mr Reader Wood threatened to prevent the Bill passing till the question was settled in the law Courts. The writs are not yet issued, as every lawyer of note refuses to take charge of them.
The Disqualification Committee of the Lower House report that Ministers have inadvertently committed a breach of the .^ct. 2.45 p.m. A lawyer has been got to do the work at last. The writs were served on Ministers this afternoon at the suit of Sir George Grey, who assumes the role of informer.
